Training program

The “Institut d’Optique Graduate School”

Selective and varied training

Nowadays, the engineering training of the Institut d’Optique Graduate School provides excellent training for students recruited from a national contest. Three programs are offered:

  • the classic option,
  • the Innovation and Entrepreneurship pathway (FIE),
  • the apprenticeship training (CFA « SupOptique »),

supplemented by continuing education programs.

With 400 students in its engineering cycles, master and doctorate, the Institut d’Optique Graduate School is the first western training center with this level in physics for optics and photonics.
35% of engineering graduates purse as doctors, comparable rate to those from the best northern American universities.

Innovation and entrepreneurship are included in the training’s goals.

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship pathway : an original training for engineers to business creation and enhancement of technological activites with high added value. This training and pre’incubation is integrated in an entrepeurship center. It forms engineers-entrepreneurs with dual skills technology/business and promotes the creation of start-ups before obtaining an engineering degree.

Besides the benefit of such training for creative and eterprising engineers, the fisrt results are convinceng: since its first class in 2008, the FIE has contributed to the creation of 11 companies, with nearly 5 million of turnover in 2013.
